I said no because most of the ones I have found online are just people opinions witout any real research. And i have been collecting long enough to have a basic grasp or rarity.

The only good one I know of for the SMS is on sega8bit, the poeple watched ebay for 6 months and logged 30,000 games. then graded them for rarity and produced a pretty cool list. here..http://www.smstributes.co.uk/quick_rarity_list.asp

I think in the most part this is accuarate, but I have noticed some rarer games you may not see for at all for a few months then all of a suddon you see about 5 in a week.

I started to produce a rarity list of Tec Toy games by using ML but got bored and it didnt go anywere.

What would you say are the 5 rarest (complete) Tec Toy games? (I don't just mean Tec Toy exclusives)

My opinion is:

1) Game Box Série Corridas
2) Mickey's Ultimate Challenge
3) Ecco: The Tides of Time
4) Férias Frustradas do Pica Pau
5) Phantasy Star??

But I really am not sure.. I have not really looked on ML enough to have a good opinion.

Hmmm... Many years ago, Geraldo Figueras told that Rainbow Islands was the rarest Tec Toy SMS game. However, I'd choose:

- Psycho Fox (find a complete / mint in Mercado Livre and you'll get a kiss  :? 8) )
- A Pequena Sereia (The Little Mermaid)
- Dynamite Headdy

From that, I'd take from your list:

- Mickey's Ultimate Challenge
- Ecco: The Tides of Time

I've never noticed if Gamebox Corridas is often for sale... and:

- Phantasy Star?? ==> hmmmmmmmmm... Tec Toy had two releases of this game, and I believe that the blue label had the shorter print run.

Anyway... who knows... being one of the best SMS games, it's usually very sought after, but I can't say it's rare...

cheers

Ah, I dont think I have ever seen a Tec Toy Psycho Fox..

I agree about Dynamite Headdy as i still don't own it :( But I do have the blue Phantasy Star :)

Game Box Série Corridas seems to appear alot as a cartridge only (no box) I have seen the box once only on ML. I really want this to complete my 'Game Box' set (can anybody help?).

There was a time about 4 or 5 months ago (?) when Tec Toy Rainbow Islands appeard about 3 or 4 times on ebay in the space of around 4 weeks! I didnt manage to get it though :(

Yeah, I still believe Raibow Islands is mega rare.

Yes, those lists are not reliable. I mean, I have a complete mint Psycho Fox, and it was my third Psycho game (since each one was in better condition than the other).

I also found in the past quite a few Phantasy Stars (blue label) and Game Box Serie Corridas. Then again, I say, I have NEVER EVER saw:

Fantasy Zone II
Global Defense

Hmmmm... can we consider the different Brazilian regions when we talk about "rarity"? How many Psycho Fox games were sold in the South? And in the Southeast? :?
I much doubt it that Tec Toy titles were proportionally distributed around Brazil...

cheers

Acho que todos os re-lancamentos da tectoy sao mais chatinhos de achar: altered beast (azul), phantasy star (azul), outrun (azul).
E o altered beast do mega? Vi completo so 1 vez acho, em caixa vermelha.

sorry, does that say: blue outrun, altered beast and phantasy star are hard or easy to find? My translator brings the word out as 'flat'?

He said that the blue labeled are harder to find. :)
"Chato" also means flat, hehehe...

Jair forgot how to write in English...

Again, it proves that a "rarity list" is a very personal thing. I saw loads of Out Run and Altered Beast, blue labeled, always sealed.

Too bad we don't have numbers to confirm that.

And I have no idea how did Tec Toy distributed the game. But I talked about that once and people came to me and said that they saw shitloads of Global Defense, and yet I STILL NEVER SAW A SINGLE ONE! :?

That's something I've always told people... the Rainbow Islands case is a good example: there were lots of people that had a copy of it in my city/state, back in the old days; you may still find copies around here if you search in the right places, I guess, although they will probably not be in good condition. But that's another story. :P

I believe 87% (and that's MY number) of Tec Toy games coexist in awful condition

I mean, maybe we brazillians just don't know how to take care of our belongins. And the cardboard box excuse is not enough, since in Japan is quite common to find such boxes in mint condition.

We have said this many times on Sega8bit, In most cases if a Tec Toy game is not sealed it's is in shitty condition :( I dont think your 'smooth' boxes help though, Euro and US boxes seem more heavy duty and the mat-effect hides scratchs.

Yeah, but even plastic case games here sucks. People usually ask for their dogs to keep the games inside their mouths, throw the instructions in the trash can and place a bunch of stickers on the cartridge.
