‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ Makers Set To Create ‘Shinobi’ Ninja Game Movie Adaptation

Video game movie adaptations aren’t the most popular in the movie industry right now, but the makers of such films aren’t quick to give up on creating the kind of standing that comic book films have received over the past few years.

In light of this fact, Bridge of Spies producer Marc Platt, and his Marc Platt Productions, have announced via press release (via THR) that they have agreed to partner with Sega Group to produce adaptations of several properties of the video game company. The ninja game series, Shinobi, has been reported to be the leading film in the works since the game dates back to 1987. This makes it one of the longest running and consistent titles of Sega.

In a statement, Platt said:

We love the Shinobi games and believe that the world of ninjas has never been properly explored onscreen. We now have the opportunity to do just that. With Shinobi, we hope to make a film that honors the essence of the games and brings this fascinating world to life for moviegoing audiences.

Shinobi follows the ninja Joe Musashi, who is on a mission to defeat Zeed, an enemy who has kidnapped someone important to Joe.

Sega and Marc Platt Productions have also agreed to plan adaptations for titles including Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, and Virtua Fighter, although not each one will be feature films.

Meanwhile, the game studio’s most popular creation, Sonic the Hedgehog, is already in place for a CGI/live action film with S**y.

It’s worth noting that Marc Platt productions has been involved with the production of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which isn’t based on a video game but ended up something like the sort since video game logic has been incorporated into the film.

With this in mind, I have high expectations for Shinobi. Considering the critical and commercial acclaim that Scott Pilgrim has received, I’m hoping Shinobi will be produced with the same vision.

. Altered Beast merecia uma tosqueira do bem estilo João e Maria;
. Crazy Taxi viraria uma comédia estilo Corrida do Século ou Tá Todo Mundo Louco;
. Golden Axe teria que ser mais sério, um Conan modernizado sem ser na linha daquele reboot recente, algo mais Krull;
